How to calculate Etsy profit in the UK
- Enter the item price and delivery charged to the buyer.
- Add product or print-on-demand fulfilment costs and actual postage.
- Check every fee assumption against your account, including VAT
on seller fees and any applicable Offsite Ads charge.
- Add advertising and other costs, then compare profit and margin.
Estimated profit = order revenue minus Etsy fees, VAT on fees,
product costs, postage, advertising and other entered costs.
Profit margin = estimated profit divided by order revenue, times 100.
Worked example, not a fee-rate quotation
With £30 order revenue, £4 total marketplace fees including fee VAT,
and £15 product and delivery costs, estimated profit is £11 before
other costs. The margin is approximately 36.7%. Enter your actual
costs above rather than treating these example fees as a default.
What the calculator includes
The calculator starts with common UK Etsy fee settings but
leaves every value editable. That matters because advertising,
currency conversion, VAT treatment and individual order costs
can change the final result.
Do not calculate profit from the item price alone
Etsy transaction and payment-processing fees can also apply
to delivery charges. Include your real fulfilment, postage,
packaging, advertising and replacement costs.
Why the listing fee is editable
Etsy states its listing fee in US dollars. The GBP amount
shown in a UK seller’s payment account can therefore vary
with currency conversion.
Use profit, not revenue, to judge ads
An order may look successful while leaving little or no profit
after production and advertising. Review the contribution
left from each order before increasing an Etsy Ads budget.
Check the assumptions before using the result
Fee rates, VAT treatment and fulfilment costs can change and may
differ by account. Replace every default with the figures shown
in your Etsy Payment account and supplier invoices.

a reason to launch.
