Etsy Fees UK 2026: Calculator, Rates and Profit Guide
Check Etsy UK fees for 2026, including listing, transaction, payment-processing and Offsite Ads charges, then estimate profit with free calculators.
Selling price is not profit. UK Etsy sellers need to allow for marketplace fees, payment processing and the real cost of making and delivering an order. This guide explains the main charges and gives you a transparent calculation you can adapt.
Want the number first? Use the free Etsy UK profit calculator or compare individual charges with the Etsy fee calculator. Both keep the assumptions editable because tax treatment and account-specific charges vary.
Etsy UK fees in 2026
The following rates were checked on 10 September 2026 against Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy and its country payment-processing table.
| Charge | Published rate relevant to a UK seller | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | US $0.20 per listing or renewal | Charged when an item is listed or renewed; the GBP amount varies with Etsy's currency conversion |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | Applied to the displayed item price plus delivery and gift wrapping |
| Etsy Payments processing | 4% + £0.20 | Applied to the total sale amount for a UK bank account |
| Offsite Ads | 15%, or 12% for shops above Etsy's threshold | Only on orders Etsy attributes to an Offsite Ad; Etsy caps this fee at US $100 per order |
| Regulatory operating fee | Account and country dependent | Check the percentage shown in your Etsy Payment account |
| VAT on seller fees | Depends on location and tax status | Etsy may add VAT to applicable seller fees |
The fixed listing charge is published in US dollars. Do not treat a single GBP conversion as permanent. Check the amount Etsy actually posts to your Payment account.
A simple UK Etsy fee example
Suppose an order produces £30 of seller revenue. Using a £0.16 illustrative listing-fee conversion, and excluding VAT, regulatory fees and Offsite Ads:
- listing fee: £0.16
- transaction fee: £30 × 6.5% = £1.95
- payment processing: £30 × 4% + £0.20 = £1.40
- core Etsy fees: £3.51
If production, packaging and delivery cost £15, the estimated profit before the excluded charges is:
£30 - £3.51 - £15 = £11.49
This is an illustration, not a quote. Enter the listing conversion, VAT treatment, regulatory fee and advertising status shown in your own account in the UK Etsy profit calculator.
Start with seller revenue
Record the amount you expect to receive for the item and any delivery or gift-wrap amount charged to the customer. Keep taxes collected and remitted by the marketplace separate from seller revenue where appropriate.
Do not begin by copying a competitor's price. Their production rates, delivery arrangements, tax treatment, advertising costs and order volume may be different from yours.
Include every direct cost
Direct costs normally include:
- product or material cost
- printing, personalisation or production
- packaging
- fulfilment charges
- postage or carrier charges
- inserts or branding materials
- transaction-specific labour not already included elsewhere
Use an invoice or supplier price rather than an optimistic estimate. For a print-on-demand product, confirm whether the quoted fulfilment price includes tax and whether delivery changes by destination, size or variant.
Calculate fees separately
Some Etsy charges use the full order value, while fixed charges affect low-priced products more heavily. Enter each rate separately instead of applying one approximate percentage to the whole order.
Use the Etsy fee calculator to compare fee components. Confirm every editable default against your Payment account before making a pricing decision.
Treat advertising as a product cost
Advertising should not be ignored simply because it is not charged on every order. Estimate the average advertising cost attributable to each completed order and include it in the model.
Offsite Ads need a separate scenario because Etsy charges the fee only on attributed orders. Test both an ordinary sale and an attributed sale to see whether the product remains worthwhile.
Allow for operational losses
Real products create occasional costs through refunds, replacements, damaged parcels, production errors and customer-service time. Historical figures are best. Without history, run a conservative scenario instead of assuming the cost is zero.
This matters especially for personalised products: a replacement may require producing and delivering a new item that cannot be resold.
Calculate estimated profit and margin
The basic calculation is:
estimated profit = seller revenue - Etsy fees - direct costs - additional costs
Profit margin is estimated profit divided by seller revenue. Both measures matter. A product can provide a reasonable cash amount per order but a weak percentage margin, or a strong percentage on a price too low to justify the work.
Use the calculator for your market:
These are planning estimates, not accounting or tax advice.
Test more than one price
Calculate at least three scenarios:
- Your normal intended selling price.
- A realistic promotional price.
- A higher-cost order affected by advertising, delivery or replacement risk.
If the product works only at the most optimistic price and cost combination, it is fragile. A viable test should leave room for normal operational variation.
Compare like with like
Marketplace prices help only when products are genuinely comparable. Check size, material, personalisation, delivery, production method and included extras. A digital file, mass-produced blank and personalised physical product are not equivalent competitors.
Use median pricing as context where a comparable sample is available, then decide whether your product has a visible reason to sit below, around or above that range. Competitor prices do not prove profitability because their costs are unknown.
Connect profit to product validation
Margin is only one part of the decision. Examine competition, sampled engagement, differentiation, product fit and fulfilment risk. A high calculated margin does not establish that people will buy.
Follow the Etsy product-validation process, then use live MOOSIZE research to test a product direction against current marketplace evidence.
Keep your calculation current
Review saved assumptions whenever Etsy, a supplier, delivery service or advertising approach changes. Recalculate before a major promotion and whenever a variant has materially different fulfilment costs.
The goal is not to predict an exact future result. It is to replace a vague price guess with a transparent decision you can check and update.
